Under the Red Roof aka Memories with my Sisters
Inspired by Faye Moorhouse I decided to be looser with my drawing and just commit to the line and to the mark, rather than gently sketching pencil then going over in paint. I think this loose way of working has worked really well, and matches the subject matter of this zine, almost like reliving the memories have reverted me back to a child, effecting how I draw.
For the title on the cover I wrote in red crayon with my less dominant hand (left) to create the impression of a child writing it. I wasn’t sure if I was satisfied with this and so copped out a bit and gave it a subtitle in neater writing.
